Jobseeker FAQs
These are the questions we frequently hear and the answers. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to email us at info@yupro.com
As a contractor or apprentice with YUPRO Placement, you are placed on assignment with one of our employer partners to gain valuable work experience and build your career. While on assignment, you are employed by YUPRO Placement, not the employer partner. This means we handle your onboarding, payroll, and support throughout your assignment.
To be a contractor with YUPRO Placement means that you are a W2 worker hired by us as your W-2 employer to work on a temporary or contract basis for one of our clients. You are considered an employee of YUPRO Placement, but you’ll be assigned to work at the client’s site (either virtually or in person). With good performance, many clients consider converting our contractors to full-time employees, though this is never guaranteed.
To be an apprentice with YUPRO Placement means that you are also a W-2 employee, hired to work on a contract basis while learning on the job. Apprentices are typically assigned a job-specific learning pathway that includes online courses and participation in professional development sessions. This extra layer of training and mentorship is designed to support your growth and long-term career success. Like contractors, apprentices work directly with a client, and with strong performance, you may be extended as a contractor or converted as a full-time employee, though this is never guaranteed.
Pay rates are determined by our employer partners, though we work with our employer partners to determine a fair market wage for the job duties, job title, and market conditions at the time of hire. Pay rates do vary by employer, by job duties, and by cities and states you work in.
For all assignments, whether you are a contractor or an apprentice, your pay rate will be confirmed before the assignment starts. You are paid weekly on Fridays through direct deposit for the hours you worked in the previous week. You will report your hours via a weblink to the payroll system, your employer manager will approve your hours, and YUPRO Placement will process your weekly paycheck.
Talent on assignment with YUPRO Placement may be eligible for certain benefits depending on the nature of the assignment, duration, and applicable state and federal laws. Benefit eligibility and offerings vary and are outlined in the materials provided at the time of offer.
Yes. YUPRO Placement was founded in 2014 as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) and wholly owned subsidiary of the nonprofit organization Year Up United.
YUPRO Placement serves as the for-profit staffing services provider for the graduates of the Year Up Career Pathways program, along with supporting jobseekers from other mission-aligned training provider organizations seeking to build the future workforce through nontraditional workforce strategies.

There are two main ways to get connected to job opportunities through YUPRO Placement:
1. Create or update your profile in our database.
Join Our Talent Community and then:
– Complete the form with your contact details
– Attach your most up-to-date resume
– Mention any relevant training programs you’ve completed, or if you’re a member of one of our nonprofit or training partners
– You can always re-upload your resume if you make updates, which keep your profile up to date, so we can reach out to you for new opportunities as they arise throughout your career
The above process gives our recruiters access to your information and helps them connect with you if your experience aligns with an open job.
2. Apply directly to open jobs on our job board.
You can browse and apply for roles that interest you via our job board. While all applications are reviewed, our recruiters will only reach out personally if you’re being considered further for the role you applied for.
Tip: Set up job alerts and continue checking our job board and apply to any jobs that align with your skills, location, and interests!
Set up job alerts in your account after you register on our job board. We add new roles all the time, so check often.
Job alerts to your text and email are the easiest way to get notified about new roles that match your preferences. Once set up, we’ll send updates via SMS and email, so you never miss an opportunity.
To Set Up a Job Alert:
Go to our Job Board, click here to access our job board
Then, find and click ‘Create/Manage Job Alerts’ on the left-hand side of the webpage
All applications submitted through our job board are reviewed. However, our recruiters only reach out personally if you are being considered for the next step in the hiring process. The exact timing of this process can vary based on the start date and hiring timeline set by our employer partners. If you’d like an update on your application status, you may email info@yupro.com.
Tip: Be sure to check your spam or junk folder, as recruiter emails may occasionally be filtered there.

Building a strong relationship with recruiters can make a big difference in your job search. Here are some best practices:
Respond promptly to outreach—even if it’s just to say you’re not interested. It helps keep communication open.
Be honest about your availability, preferences, and goals so we can better align opportunities.
Keep your resume and contact info updated, and let us know if anything changes.
Follow up respectfully if you haven’t heard back—usually after 3–5 business days is appropriate.
Recruiters are here to help, but you’re also your best advocate—staying proactive and communicative goes a long way.
Unfortunately, job scams are real, but there are some clear red flags to watch out for:
You’re asked to pay money up front for equipment, training, or a guaranteed job.
The recruiter uses a personal email address (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo) rather than a company domain.
The job offer seems too good to be true (extremely high pay for little experience or vague job descriptions).
You’re asked for sensitive info like your Social Security number or banking info too early in the process.
Poor grammar or inconsistent communication is a common sign of a scam.
To protect yourself:
• Always research the company or recruiter online.
• Never send money or share sensitive personal information until you confirm legitimacy.
