Yes, Year Up United, Inc., owns YUPRO Placement, though YUPRO Placement is a separate for-profit entity and operates under a separate governing board of directors. YUPRO Placement is a public benefit corporation (PBC) founded by Year Up United founder Gerald Chertavian to continue the mission of closing the Opportunity Divide. As such, YUPRO Placement supports Year Up United Alumni and other nonprofit organization talent in securing jobs that pay fair market wages and offer career and economic mobility in our shared mission to close the Opportunity Divide.
Yes, we support MSPs as a specialty or non-minority-owned diversity supplier based on our PBC status and our nonprofit ownership. MSPs seek YUPRO Placement out as a source of untapped diverse talent to meet their clients’ hiring needs. Most of our database identifies as Black, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and non-degreed. We focus on skills-based hiring to match talent in these underserved communities to equitable job opportunities in companies committing to diversity and inclusion.
In partnership with their enterprise clients, MSPs integrate our model as a specialty tier in their programs to gain access to our exclusive talent marketplace.

Our expert skills-first staffing team rigorously assesses candidates to verify their skills and abilities to meet your job requirements. We use state-of-the-art skills assessment technology to do this. We conduct personal interviews utilizing behavioral interviewing techniques to assess skills and behaviors in the workplace to align with your business needs. Upon considering many candidates, YUPRO Placement presents the top candidates for your role for you to interview.
The process for requesting talent is straightforward:
• Contact us: We want to get to know you to ensure we source top talent for your hiring needs and that we earn your respect as a trusted staffing partner.
• Staffing agreement: We have a simple agreement, or we will review your staffing agreement to get started.
• Consultation: We schedule intake calls to learn specifics such as company environment, department structure, job responsibilities, required skills, timeline to hire, interview process, career progression for the role, and hourly wage or salary.
• Skills-first job description: We support our clients in crafting a job description emphasizing skill sets and using gender-neutral language to attract the broadest candidate pool for your role.</li>
• Skills assessment: We customize candidate skills assessments for job titles to enhance the candidate matching process.
• Matching and interviews: We match and present to you candidates based on skills and abilities, aligning their skill sets with job requirements. You interview top candidates before making a final hiring decision. We support pay negotiations where applicable.
• Paperwork and onboarding: We manage all paperwork associated with new hires, including contracts, taxes, and other payroll tasks.
We provide comprehensive support to ensure a smooth onboarding process for your new hire. As a first step, new employees complete an online onboarding course that prepares them for the workplace. Then, a YUPRO Placement Staffing Consultant oversees each placement, offering onboarding support to you and the talent and providing regular on-the-job performance coaching. Our Staffing Consultant conducts regular employer partner check-ins, assistance with frequent questions, and guidance during job transitions. At any time during the assignment, clients can contact their assigned Staffing Consultant or email yuprohr@yupro.com for support as well.
We measure assignment completion rate quarterly and annually. This key metric represents high retention, loyalty, and job satisfaction while gauging the effectiveness of our services. Our high-touch approach results in consistently stronger retention year after year.
In 2022, YUPRO Placement’s assignment completion rate was 95%, significantly exceeding the national contractor average of 68%.
In addition, YUPRO Placement conducts the ClearlyRated Net Promoter Score (NPS) Survey annually. Since the survey’s inception, we have earned the ClearlyRated Best in Staffing Client Satisfaction recognition for three consecutive years.
Our talent community can access continuous skill-building and professional development opportunities through leading training partners such as Grow with Google, IBM SkillsBuild, Cisco Networking Academy and Infosec at no cost.
All talent are offered medical, dental, and vision plans after 60 days on assignment. In addition, our longer-term contractors may join our 401k program at 12 months of service.
