Year Up Story

About Year Up

Year Up is an award-winning, national workforce development program that empowers young adults to go from poverty to a professional career in one year.  Students enroll in an intensive training program that provides a combination of hands-on skill development, college credits, and corporate internships.

By engaging with corporate partners to identify their areas of need, Year Up successfully helps them fill their skills gap with professional, motivated, and diverse talent.  Since 2001, Year Up has partnered with over 250 companies in more than 12 cities across the nation.

Year Up’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by providing disadvantaged young adults with the skills, experience, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

A Year Up graduate’s first job is just one step in a lifelong journey of development and education. YUPRO was created to be a support system throughout this journey, equipping Year Up alumni with multi-faceted skill sets, and the ability to adapt to changing job markets.

YUPRO’s mission is to assist Year Up alumni as they navigate their careers permanently across the Opportunity Divide. By providing companies with motivated, trained professionals, YUPRO is able to generate profit that goes directly toward the continued help and support of the Year Up program. In doing this, YUPRO helps to create memorable experiences for our alumni that they will cherish forever.

Our intention is to be the first choice for Year Up graduates seeking placement services and career support. We feel it’s our social duty to seek the best possible wages for graduates, and support their career development as they move forward in the working world.
